Piyush Goyal Initiates District Master Plan Under PM GatiShakti

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal launched a district master plan under PM GatiShakti on Tuesday. According to an official, it is intended to improve infra planning in India’s 27 aspirational districts. It’s called a big step towards the efficient and integrated development of infrastructure through sophisticated data analytics and planning techniques by the government.

The national master plan portal is a part of PM GatiShakti initiatives designed to accomplish efficient planning and delivery of infrastructure projects. Goyal said on Wednesday that the district master plan, already implemented in more than 50 districts, is likely to be implemented in more than 750 districts pan-India within the next 18 months. He further added that this decision underlines the commitment of the government in delivering strong infrastructure development pan-India in various regions of the country.

He also presented guidelines on place-specific logistical plans that aim to fulfill the needs of the city. Inevitably, these guidelines will uphold logistics efficiency and consolidate further urban development with today’s demands on infrastructure.

PM GatiShakti is a very innovative initiative presented by Goyal, positioning India at the top of the queue in terms of global infrastructure planning. He said it integrates over 1,600 layers of data from both central and state levels to make the fast development of world-class infrastructure projects even faster, more efficient, and cost-effective. According to Goyal, “This is the technology that the world will adopt for infrastructure planning in the coming years.” This initiative promises to bolster the confidence of urban planners, architects, engineers, and international organizations that finance infrastructure projects.

The information available is highly tested and updated daily to make sure the information given in the PM GatiShakti framework is correct. The Government of India’s Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances is collaborating with this project, and the portal developed by Gujarat’s Bhaskaracharya Institute for Space Applications and Geoinformatics (BISAG-N) has been so designed to enable optimal utilization of resources and effective exploitation of the infrastructure projects”.

“This GIS-enabled platform will not only help the government save the expenditures but will also enable efficient data-driven decisions, which will definitely ensure that development of infrastructure is more efficient,” he added.

The district master plan and guiding principles launched today are a vital step toward the approach India will take toward infrastructure development and further emphasize the commitment of the government to nurturing sustainable and effective urban growth, he explained.
