Female Entrepreneurs from Tricity Showcased their Innovative Startups at TiECON Chandigarh

Among the 70 startups featured at the 9th edition of TiECON Chandigarh at Hyatt Regency, Chandigarh, Tashvin Foundation’s stall stood out prominently. In a noteworthy trend, female entrepreneurs are spearheading the startup scene in the Tricity area, ushering in a wave of innovation and community empowerment.

Natasha Chopra, a philanthropist and the founder of Tashvin Foundation, epitomizes the ethos of service above self. Established in 2021, the foundation, devoid of any commercial motives, is dedicated to health, education, women’s empowerment, life skills, environmental welfare, and holistic healing.

Showcasing a diverse array of products including bath and bedding linens, handcrafted bags, and pouches, Chopra mentioned that the foundation has approximately 500 women affiliated with them, participating in upskilling programs for livelihood enhancement. The foundation’s focus on women extends to remote areas, with plans to establish raw material banks fully operated by women, thus promoting self-reliance.

Sanya Singla, a student from Chitkara University, exhibited her startup at Tiecon 2024, demonstrating a dedication to training women in the university’s adopted villages. Singla crafts exquisite jewelry sets from natural flowers and UV resin, empowering village women by sharing 30% of the profits with them.

Kanika Rajdev, the founder of a Chandigarh-based startup, has been providing market user services since 2022, serving over 20 clients. Meraki Ads, founded by Heena Kataria, distinguishes itself with an all-women leadership team, specializing in strategic brand positioning, digital marketing, and retail expansion.

P&A Chartered Accountants, under the leadership of Deepinder Kaur, aids in obtaining subsidies, including capital subsidies for new units and interest subsidies for agriculture projects. Similarly, Komal Jaiswal, director of Greenaffair startup, concentrates on natural soil nutrition, offering over 25 products ranging from pulses to saffron.

Dr. Vipasha Sharma, the founder of MKelly Biotech Pvt Ltd, initially focused on providing training in cultivating medicinal mushrooms but shifted to developing a groundbreaking product – fermented millets with cordyceps powder. This pre-mix powder enhances the nutritional value of traditional recipes, contributing to innovation in the food industry.
