Amazon has recently entered into an agreement with India Post, aiming to streamline cross-border logistics for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) exporters. This partnership was celebrated at Amazon’s Smbhav Summit 2023, where Minister of State for Science and Technology, Jitendra Singh, unveiled a commemorative postal stamp marking a decade of collaboration between Amazon and India Post.
Introducing Sah-AI, a personalized digital assistant driven by generative artificial intelligence, Amazon seeks to provide tailored support to both new and existing sellers on its platform. Sah-AI will simplify intricate processes such as registration, listing, and advertising support, optimizing the experience for sellers.
Further strengthening its commitment to enhancing logistics, Amazon announced its engagement with the Indian Railways Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation (DFC), establishing Amazon as the first e-commerce entity in India to utilize DFC’s freight railway routes for shipping customer packages.
Looking ahead, Amazon has outlined ambitious goals for its contributions to India’s digital landscape. The company aims to digitize 10 million MSMEs, facilitate cumulative e-commerce exports amounting to USD 20 billion, and create two million jobs within India by the year 2025.
Minister Singh emphasized the potential of digitization for the economic growth of numerous small businesses across India. He highlighted the benefits of increased customer outreach, reduced marketing costs, and access to international markets through digital transformation.
Amazon’s India Country Manager for Consumer Business, Manish Tiwary, highlighted the company’s focus on investing in both physical and digital infrastructure. Tiwary emphasized the importance of cutting-edge technology solutions in enabling Indian businesses to expand domestically and globally, thereby contributing to India’s burgeoning digital economy.
The Smbhav Summit 2023, an annual event focused on small business digitization, innovation, financial inclusion, and sustainability, marked Amazon’s renewed dedication to supporting the growth of MSMEs and promoting advancements in India’s digital ecosystem.
